GP2 and GP3 finally confirm 2016 calendars

The GP2 and GP3 calendars for 2016 have finally been revealed. They are usually revealed in December or January, however they have finally confirmed it just 2 weeks prior to the new Formula 1 season.

The calendars remain more or less the same, however for 2016, both championships will not visit Bahrain or Sochi, the 2nd and 4th round in the Formula 1 World Championship. Both seasons will start in Barcelona in mid May, GP2 will then go to Monaco and Baku, without GP3. The GP3 season resumes in Austria alongside GP2 at the start of July, before heading to Silverstone, Hungary, Germany, Belgium and Italy. They will both visit Malaysia, before the final round of the season will take place at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

  1. the missing of Bahrain is understandable due to GP2 test in spain too close to race date, i think Russia might have been a bit too close for GP3 after its own test hence this long wait we had. was not expecting GP3 to hit Sepang for 1st time ever
